So I’m sure by now you’ve heard kale is good for you and all that jazz, but because of it’s tough texture, it’s not always the easiest thing to make into a tasty yet still healthy snack. Beside juicing it and throwing it in salads, I recently tried my hand at making Kale Chips, and it’s so easy!
All you need is:
– a couple bunches of Kale
– salt and pepper
– 1 tbs olive oil
– topping of choice (chili flakes, paprika, garlic powder, nutritional yeast etc) – this is optional
Firstly, preheat your oven to 160°C, then you want to rip or cut your Kale bunches into bit sized pieces.
And then thoroughly rinse and pat dry.
After you’ve decided your toppings ( I went with chilli flakes.. be careful as if you’re like me, you’ll need less than you think!) Add them into your bowl of bite sized kale bits and massage the oil and seasonings in so all the leafs are coated.
On a baking tray covered with preferably baking parchment but I used foil as I’d run out, scatter your kale. Make sure this is a single layer as you don’t want the tray to be over crowded, it’s better to do a few batches rather than squash more on.
Then bake for around 15 minutes, it may take less time depending on your oven, but just keep an eye on them. Theres no need to flip the Kale over but you can always flip the tray around if you feel the need.
