On Saturday, H and I stopped by De Gruchy’s department store here in Jersey to take a look at their new fashion floor which launched last week. The department store have pushed aside the crowded previous dated look to welcome a clean, clear, modern design. Responsible for the new design was Clauder Moore who have worked with well known UK department stores such as Selfridges and Harrods.
The brands available include Mint Velvet, Karen Millen, Coast, Oasis and Phase Eight which were all previously found downstairs. The collections on display have grown in size and having this bigger space makes it easier to manoeuvre while shopping, this alongside better lighting really makes for a much more pleasurable shopping experience.
Everything about the new design and the way De Gruchy’s have chosen to update their store is an improvement and really exciting to see. This modern look and updated approach to consumer needs was long overdue. The next step would be to broaden the range of brands without over crowding the new layout and design. It would be great to have an area dedicated to different brands where the designer was regularly changed, even if this meant the range was slightly more limited then the current, standard brands that are sold .
