Bath Treats

When you suffer from anxiety, and stress is a regular factor in your day to day life, sometimes finding a handful of ways to help you relax really makes all the difference to your mental and physical health. For me it can be singing along to my favourite songs, being wrapped up in a blanket by H and plonked in front of House Of Cards, or having a nice long bath (all three is a winning combination) .

There a few things that make lying in a big ole tub of water even more relaxing, hopefully the list below will be a good place to start… a candle here and there never goes amiss either.

The Salts

Bath salts gently diffuse into the water whilst you are running your bath and there are so many on the market. Whether it’s simple yet effective Epsom Salts or ones with added oils like The Bathory  (pictured above) they are a great way to relax your body. What I love about The Bathory is that you can personalise your bath salts! Firstly you pick your salt mix and following that, you pick three oils depending on what you want to feel. You pick the salts for you body and the oils for you mind, the website is really great at helping you narrow down your choices too.

The Bomb

Technically a bubble bar, The Comforter is my favourite Lush product at the moment. Snap the pink and white swirl in half (or quarters if you want it to last a bit longer) and crumble it under running water. I think the fact it turns the bath water pink is definitely uplifting in itself but the bergamot enhances this uplifting note. The Comforter makes your skin lovely and soft, I never want to get out of the bath! You can really see as well as feel a difference with this product. The bathing stakes have been raised.

The Oils

I find bath oils are the most pungent of all, and Aromatherapy Associates do such beautiful oils. With a variety of scents available there is something for everyone, and it only take a capful per bath for the desired effect. A spa like experience at home. Follow with an appropriate moisturiser for maximum hydration.

The Soak

I have yet to use this final bath time antidote, as quite frankly I keep saving it for a relaxation emergency! I am a huge fan of MIO products and have yet to use one that disappoints. MIO’s Liquid Yoga promises to dissolve away stressy aches and weary woes. It is an SLS-free milky-moisturising blend of essential oils with an extravagant dose of mineral salts and therapeutic herbs to ease your mind and body. I will keep you updated on my thoughts on this.
