While wondering through Chelsea in NYC, we came across a little shop which stock the most beautiful lip balm I’d ever laid eyes on… as if I needed another lip balm!
It might have been the irresistible gold packaging that caught my eye but it wasn’t the only reason I bought it. Haeckels was founded in 2012 by a filmmaker and coastal enthusiast named Dom Bridges who had a vision. That vision to create simple handcrafted products that showcased the surrounding coasts natural ingredients has succeeded, concentrating on craft first and letting the products remind and educate customers about the natural wealth of Margates coastline. Haeckels hold one of two licenses in England to be able to harvest seaweed off the English coast, which is a key ingredient alongside beeswax in this lip balm.
For me this lip balm is the perfect bedtime balm, it’s heavy herbal fragrance is a pleasant smell but possibly not for everyone. You do not want to lick your lips in this balm, this is strong, potent but healing stuff that really does the job. When applying to my normally chapped lips I find it tingles; feeling similar to a ‘plumping’ effect, but the results are smooth, softened lips and that’s what I’m after. This was a luxury purchase but a little goes a long way. I am a big fan of the packaging, not just the gold colour, the logo, and the perfect choice of font (dreammmmmmmmy), but the heavy-duty metal tub which is easy to find in bags and drawers. All natural products are not a must for me but are a welcomed bonus and I really like the story behind this brand. I would definitely be really interested to try more of their vast range of skincare and fragrance products.
