Morning Skincare Routine

morning skincare routine

It took me sometime to find a routine that worked for me every single morning. I wanted to streamline what was once my routine but I had hoarded so many different products I didn’t know where to start. Back to basics I went. Cleanse. Tone. Moisturise. And so far it’s working! This is the very basics, the building blocks to a future routine, it’s not complete. I still haven’t settled on an AM eye cream, I’m running low on my current moisturiser and I can only get my cleanser when I’m stateside but for now, I’m really happy with it.

Cleanse
I don’t quite know how to put into words the magic that is Glossier’s Milky Jelly Cleanser. The texture is that of a thick cloudy gel which is fittingly described as a jelly. This is a ‘conditioning face wash’ which effortlessly removes all none waterproof makeup (this isn’t very essential though for a morning cleanse) but I love how moisturised it leaves my skin without any greasy film. This cleanser is not striping at all and reminiscent of the Oskia Renaissance Cleanser but I feel with the Milky Jelly Cleanser that my skin is drastically improving. I combine my cleanser with my new favourite toy. The Foreo Luna Play, you can read more about that here.

Tone
La Roche Possay Serozinc has been in my collection for some time, I remember when I could only pick it up on a trip to France. I love that this is more of a mist than a spray. It really calms any redness in my skin and really refreshes my face in the morning. I have dry, sensitive skin and I love this mist, but it is also highly recommended for oily skin. I like to tap my skin to help the mist absorb before reaching for my moisturiser.

Moisturise

I discovered Kate Somerville’s  Goat Milk Moisturiser when I received it as a christmas gift.  I remembered reading about it on Caroline Hirons Blog and it is so great for my dry skin. It has a slightly peculiar scent which quickly disappears but I love the packaging and how it dispenses just the right amount for my face and neck. Once it’s sunk into my skin which doesn’t take too long, I find it’s a great base for makeup too.

Have you tried any of these products? I’m still after a new eye cream, have you got one in your morning routine you’d like to share? If not I’m going to be reaching for H’s!
