Before we packed our bags and headed to Dubai I had a list of places I wanted to try. However, when I’m in 40-degree heat, it’s much more pleasurable to relax and enjoy the sunshine, so that list will have to wait. Here are the places that were memorable enough to make it into my Dubai address book, and the ones I’ll be returning to.
The One & Only Royal Mirage Hotel
Al Sufouh Road, Jumeirah Beach – Dubai – United Arab Emirates
The One and Only Royal Mirage hotel is a luxurious hotel near the Dubai marina. Divided into three distinctive environments, The Palace, Residence and Spa, Arabian Court. There are endless dining options to choose from, multiple pools and a private beach stretch of 1km for hotel guests to use. The facilities are outstanding, and the attention to detail doesn’t go unnoticed. The greenery throughout the hotel is gorgeous and much appreciated in the dessert.
The One & Only The Palm Hotel
The Palm Jumeirah – Dubai – United Arab Emirates
The One & Only The Pal is only a ten-minute boat journey away from the Royal Mirage. The boat goes back and forth every half an hour so you can enjoy a day lying on their shore or head over for pre-dinner drinks. There’s something magical about the palm and being able to look back over across the water. How beautiful does it look at sunset?
Folly by Nick and Scott
Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Folly by Nick and Scott
is set in the Madinat Jumeirah, a beautiful shopping destination in Dubai. Beautiful because the views are absolutely breathtaking, the perfect place to visit for drinks and dinner. Folly has a sundowners menu on their roof terrace which is a lovely smart casual place to relax in the evening. We also had dinner down stair on the balcony and the food is outstanding. The menu is the perfect selection of gourmet dishes. Small dishes to start include and onion and sage eggy bread and my main course of choice was the fillet beef with lyonnaise potatoes and an onion compote.
The H Hotel Dubai, 1st Floor, One Sheikh Zayed Road – Dubai – United Arab Emirates
is based in the city, on the first floor of The H Hotel. If you like Japanese food I strongly encourage you to visit Okku. The menu is vast covering a wide range of food. The tuna tacos make my mouth water to even think about them. Truffle crisps which you pile high with fresh raw tuna – what’s not to like! We also had the wagyu beef which is cooked table side, wagyu beef is one of the best cuts of beef you can get, it melts in your mouth. The desserts were great too, the chocolate brownie is rich and extravagant whilst the apple pie is more manageable.
Beach Bar and Grill
One & Only Royal Mirage, Al Safouh Road, Dubai Media City
The Beach Bar and Grill
was our favourite lunch spot. The perfect spot to enjoy the view whilst cooling down slightly in the shade. The service was impeccable and friendly, the menu has a good array of dishes including a range of steaks and lots of seafood dishes. The chilli grilled squid and the beef carpaccio stood out for us as light lunch options. There is also an endless supply of bread either accompanied with a cream cheese or tapenade depending on the day.
If you have any places I might have missed, please leave them in the comments below. I’m sure I’ll be back for another short break in the future.
