Neither Danny or I work in town on a regular basis and it’s easy to forget about some of the great places in St. Helier. So many places in one location, it’s the perfect place to start if you’re visiting the island. With the weather being a combination of cold, wet, and windy at the moment. What better time then to tuck yourselves up inside with a never ending supply of tea, coffee and cake?
We headed to Bohemia, at The Club Hotel and Spa for a truly indulgent Afternoon Tea. We weren’t the only ones either as we spotted a few others making there way through the towers of savoury and sweet delights.
Danny opted for coffee, but a large pot of tea (or two by the end of the afternoon) suited me just fine. Is there a better way to forget about the week ahead than a cup of tea? …I think not.
We started with finger sandwiches, four different fillings, and four for each of us. Smoked salmon, ham and mustard, tuna and sweetcorn, and cheese and tomato. The cheese and tomato was our top pick! It was nice to have such a variety of flavours even down to the two different types of bread.
Is it me or do these cakes look more like works of art than they look edible? We were absolutely spoilt by 4 different types of cakes, aswell as a plain and a raison scone each. The scones came with a lovely trio of Jersey black butter, clotted cream and strawberry jam. If you didn’t believe me at the beginning of this post when I said it would be a truly indulgent afternoon… are you believing me now? …No?…
…How about now?
Chocolate and Pistachio and a beautiful creamy berry flavoured dessert. And wait till you see the scones, so light and fluffy. The best scones I’ve had in forever.
It’s worth mentioning that if you have any dietary requirements, let Bohemia know when you book. Their gluten free afternoon tea looks so delicious! When we visited, a gentleman on a nearby table mentioned he was vegetarian. The maitre d’ informed him that some of the cakes contained gelatine and was able to sort out some more appropriate sandwiches and cakes.
Danny had never eaten at Bohemia and I’d only been once, some time ago now. There are so many different menus to chose from, and a roof terrace which I’m sure we’ll be heading to for a drink when the sun decides to make a more permanent appearence.
The Classic Afternoon Bohemian Afternoon Tea is £19.95 per person.
Thank you Bohemia, for a lovely afternoon. We both had such a great time, we left very full, having sufficiently ate the most delicious food to our hearts content- and then some! This would make such a lovely gift for a friend, partner, parent or any other loved one… Maybe an idea for Mothers Day?
I couldn’t believe how much food was included, we managed to try everything and did our best to finish but you really do get incredible value for money. For a Michelin star restaurant the atmosphere was not stuffy like one might expect but calm and relaxed. We were in our own little world, full of sugary goodness.
So there’s only one question left… what goes first? The jam or the cream?
